Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology 
 
The B.Sc. Food Science and Technology is a four-year degree programme designed such that graduate candidates acquire sufficient knowledge and skills to advance the economic and nutritional well being of the people of Rwanda and the world through education in Food Science & Technology and value added research. The program also aims to develop Food Science specialists who are able to function in a variety of academic, industrial and professional settings. Students may elect to pursue their graduate work in the following areas: Food, Agriculture and Nutrition; Food Chemistry and Quality Assurance; Food Microbiology and Biotechnology, Food Processing and Engineering.  
 
Admission Requirements 
 
For admission into Food Science and Technology degree programme, a minimum of two principal passes in Chemistry and Biology at Secondary School Advanced level is needed from any of the A-level combination  
 
Government sponsored students are selected by the Rwanda National Examinations Council. Privately sponsored students should apply directly to the Institute’s office of the Registrar

Languages; Foundation Mathematics, General Physics ., General Chemistry, Computer Literacy (ICDL), Engineering Drawing for FST, Introduction to Food Science and Technology, Principles of Agriculture Production.  
 
Year 2:  
 
Languages, Statistics, Computer programming, Biochemistry, Food Chemistry , Animal Science, Crop Science, Animal Production and Nutrition, Food Analysis & Instrumentation, Food Engineering, General Microbiology, Principles of Human Nutrition  
 
Year 3:  
 
Languages for academic purposes, Food Biotechnology and Enzymology , Food Analysis and Instrumentation , Fruits & Vegetables Science & Technology , Meat Science and Technology, Cereal Science and Technology. Beverage Science & Technology, Sugar, Root Crops & Tubers Sc. & Technology.  
 
Year 4:  
 
Food Quality Assurance & Legislation, Food Biotech & Enzymology, Fats and Oils Science & Technology, Applied Human Nutrition & Dietetics, Research Methods & Seminars, Entrepreneurship Development, Food Hygiene, Sanitation & Toxicology, Food Plant Management and Production Economics, Food Product Development & Sensory Evaluation,Research Project,Industrial attachment.Laboratory Infrastructure is available
